Job Description:
This position will be responsible for performing various accounting activities within the Accounting & Finance department such as:
Maintain accurate accounts payable records while adhering to systems and processes in place.
Maintain accurate purchasing and receiving records while adhering to systems and processes in place.
Maintain accurate accounts receivable records while adhering to systems and processes in place.
Maintain accurate billing records while adhering to systems and processes in place.
Provide accurate and timely information/analysis to support requests by the Staff Accountant & Director of Finance.
Comply with corporate and government reporting requests; examine accounting documentation to verify accuracy of computations and uniform application of policies procedures and acceptable accounting standards.
Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures and recommend modifications to existing policies and procedures when appropriate.
Ensure compliance with grant accounting and reporting. Maintain accurate records for grants.
Maintain control procedures for general accounting and financial functions; perform compliance testing as required.
Ability to work within demanding accounting cycles and month-end closing deadlines.
Other accounting/office duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills & Experience:
Associates degree from a Two-Year College Preferred.
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Team-oriented and customer-focused with excellent interpersonal skills. Must have good problem-solving and resolution skills.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyze and interpret business trends technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to effectively present information to all levels verbally and in written reports.
To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of QuickBooks or related accounting software; Billing Software; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Outlook.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated attentive to detail well organized and able to handle multiple priorities.
Compensation is commensurate on experience and/or qualifications.
