ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under general supervision the Administrative Assistant provides highly responsible administrative staff assistance in analyzing implementing coordinating and monitoring of programs; conducting specific and moderately complex analyses of a wide-range of departmental activities; developing and maintaining databases; performing varied office administrative support to the Engineering Department and related management professional and operational staff; performing technical support work for the District such as regulatory reporting and work order processing; and performing related work as required.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Possess experience with contract management including tracking contract budgets and invoicing contractors.
  • Be able to process purchase orders.
  • Be a self-driven individual with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess technical expertise to operate computer PC laptop and other office equipment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to a diverse customer base.
  • Be able to craft reports memos and emails in a professional manner.
  • Interact tactfully effectively courteously and concisely both orally and in writing with people in an environment with extensive public contact.
  • Have experience in a public agency (highly desirable).


ABOUT THE CLIENT
Background- In 1958 a local group of dedicated citizens known as the Marina Community Service Corporation proposed the formation of a municipal-owned water system with boundaries to coincide with the existing Marina Fire District which was approximately 1600 acres. Two years later the Marina County Water District was formed by registered voters of the then unincorporated city of 1966 voters authorized the sale of water bonds totaling $950000 to acquire a privately owned water company serving the area.

Today - Today we serve more than 40000 customers and approximately 10800 accounts split roughly equally between Central Marina and the Ord Community on the former military base including California State University (CSU) Monterey Bay. Our vision is to become the leading public supplier of integrated water and wastewater services in the Monterey Bay Region.

Typical Qualifications

Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school with supplemental business school or applicable college level course work. Possession of an associate degree from a business or community college in an appropriate curriculum is desirable and may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.


Experience: Three years of responsible office administrative experience. Experience in dealing with the public and working in a public agency setting is desirable.


Other Requirements: Occasional attendance at off-hours meetings is required.
