Job Summary
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer / Data Engineer to support a high-volume regulated environment within the securities domain. This role focuses on building and optimizing database solutions developing reliable data pipelines and enabling business intelligence reporting while ensuring strong compliance and data governance standards.
You will work closely with IT teams and business stakeholders to translate operational and regulatory requirements into scalable efficient data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Database Development & Management

Design maintain and optimize database structures including tables views and stored procedures.

Implement complex business logic while ensuring compliance and operational integrity.
Data Pipeline & Automation
-
Develop and deploy reliable data solutions using Python and SQL.

Build and maintain automated workflows to support business jobs and operational processes.
Cross-functional Collaboration
-
Partner with technology teams and business users to understand end-to-end workflows.

Translate requirements into efficient and scalable data pipeline designs.
Ad Hoc Data Support

Respond to time-sensitive data requests by extracting transforming validating and delivering datasets.

Ensure strict confidentiality integrity and quality across all outputs.
BI & Reporting Enablement

Integrate data into BI tools (e.g. Qlik) to support dashboards and interactive reporting.

Enable data-driven decision-making for stakeholders.
Performance Optimization

Diagnose and resolve database performance issues (latency query inefficiency scalability constraints).

Apply SQL tuning indexing strategies and architectural improvements to support high-volume transaction systems.
Compliance & Global Collaboration

Work with onshore and offshore teams to enhance system maturity.

Maintain strong security governance and compliance standards aligned with regulatory frameworks.
Requirements
Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in data engineering database development or similar roles (financial/securities industry preferred).

Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.

Solid understanding of ETL workflows and data modelling.

Strong analytical thinking attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Fluent in English and Mandarin (spoken and written).

Experience with BI tools such as Qlik Power BI or Tableau.

Exposure to cloud-based data environments.
