Located on Vancouver Island just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) is in the ancestral and unceded territories of First Nations including the Quwutsun Malahat Tsuubaa-asatx Halalt Penelakut Stzuminus Lyackson Pauquachin Ditidaht and Pacheedaht Nations. Local First Nations Peoples have stewarded the lands waters plants and animals of this region since beyond time immemorial. The CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 95000. The picturesque Cowichan Valley offers a warm climate and numerous parks recreational cultural and social opportunities such as majestic mountains the rugged West Coast Trail serene lakes and one of the worlds tallest free-standing timber rail trestles.
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates as a regular full time Capital Projects Coordinator (Facilities) in the Facilities Division within the Community Services Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD).
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to play a key role in planning coordinating and delivering capital projects across a wide range of community spaces including recreation centres community halls office buildings and other CVRD facilities. Reporting to the Senior Manager Facilities Division the Capital Projects Coordinator Facilities provides technical and administrative support to the Division and is responsible for the planning implementation and coordination of capital projects ranging from minor capital renovations to major asset replacement researching and implementing energy saving initiatives as well as ensuring the life cycle planning and reporting for the facilities equipment and building systems adhere to the CVRDs asset management plan preventative maintenance standards and operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Building Science or a discipline related to building or architectural technology supplemented by courses in facility management and asset management
- Training in facilities management arena refrigeration HVAC building maintenance asset management and project management is preferred
- Project Management Professional Certification is preferred
- A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible related experience in construction/project management including supervisory experience in the area of construction/project management
- Two (2) years of experience retaining and coordinating technical consultants and contractors related to capital projects
- Related experience in asset management is preferred
- An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered
- Class 5 BC Drivers License
- Basic First Aid (formerly First Aid Level 1 with CPR)

Hours of Work
Guaranteed 35 hours of work per week Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings. This position is currently eligible to participate in the Flextime Program.
Where operationally appropriate the CVRD has a Work From Home program. After a successful inoffice training period this position may be eligible for a hybrid inoffice/remote schedule. Please note this is not a fully remote position; regular onsite presence is required. The work location is an office space in Duncan BC with project work occurring throughout CVRD-owned facilities.
Salary
This unionized position has a wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358 $52.89 - $54.48 - $56.07 per hour (2025 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
