Job Summary

Nanook Technology Services (NTS) is seeking new students to join either the Technology Support Services (TSS) team or the Collaboration and Learning Spaces (CLS) team.

Technology Support Services supports and manages the workstations printing devices and end user applications for UAF. TSS Student Assistants assist full time employees with technical support logistics inventory management and internal organization. Technology Support Students also run the Student Support Center which is a device troubleshooting and repair center fully managed by student employees.

Collaboration and Learning Spaces is responsible for building and supporting the smart classrooms and conference systems on campus as well as Zoom Kaltura and digital signage. CLS Student Assistants help instructors in classrooms assist with new room system installations maintain documentation and troubleshoot various technical issues.

Be a customer-oriented and friendly individual who can deal with occasional stressful
situations.
Have a basic understanding of technology and major desktop and mobile
operating systems.
Be interested and willing to learn about technology.
Exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills in person over the
phone and over a video call.
Be able to accoomplish work efficiently expecially in an unsupervised environment.
Demonstrate problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues effectively and
promptly.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
UA student enrolled in the minimum of 6 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
Experience sufficient to be able to learn skills in information technology and customer
service

Preferred Qualifications

Prior customer service experience or experience in AV or technology support


Position Details:

This position is located fully on-site on the University of Alaska Fairbanks Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a part-time position offering up to 20 hours per week (40 hours per week with a wavier) while school is in session. Additional hours may be available during summer and winter breaks. The starting hourly rate is $16.00 per hour with compensation commensurate with experience and assigned work.
