Human Resources Assistant
Location: Cerritos California
Schedule: Full-time on-site
Compensation: $50000$60000 annually
A respected California law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Assistant to support daily HR operations in a fast-paced professional environment. The ideal candidate is organized responsive discreet with confidential information and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fully in-office setting.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting and Onboarding Support
- Post open positions and assist with applicant tracking
- Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates recruiters and hiring managers
- Support pre-employment steps including background checks reference checks and I-9 documentation
- Help organize and facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation logistics
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employee files and HR records
- Enter and update employee information in HRIS systems including job changes compensation updates and transfers
- Track employee status changes leave activity and other personnel updates
- Prepare reports rosters and compliance-related documentation
Benefits and Employee Support
- Respond to routine employee questions related to benefits and HR processes
- Assist with benefits enrollment and open enrollment materials
- Route more complex employee issues to the appropriate HR contact or vendor
Compliance and Projects
- Handle confidential HR information with professionalism and discretion
- Monitor training completion and other compliance-related activities
- Support HR initiatives such as audits policy updates employee events wellness programs recognition efforts and internal communications
- Assist with additional projects and department needs as assigned
Qualifications
- Associates or bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
- 12 years of HR experience ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines and work with urgency
- Professional team-oriented and service-focused approach
- Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience using HRIS platforms such as ADP Paycom Workday or similar
- Basic understanding of employment law and HR best practices
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position based in Cerritos CA. Remote and hybrid options are not available. The role includes regular computer use sitting walking standing bending and lifting/carrying office materials up to 25 pounds.
