Job Summary
The College of Science (CoS) in Nanyang Technological University comprises four internationally known schools with more than 6000 undergraduate and graduate students 250 faculty and 164 management support staff. The Deans Strategy Officer will support the Colleges planning promotion and strategic development to achieve its vision and mission.
Reporting to the Dean the incumbent will actively coordinate the academic endeavours at the College. He/She will work across the Schools to develop strategic documents and frameworks and execute these plans. Overall he/she will play a vital role in shaping the future of the College and ensuring its continued academic success preparing students for engineering careers and advancing the frontiers of knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Horizon Scanning
Detect early potential changes or emerging trends in the Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) landscape. This includes staying vigilant to best practices in science education and research.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Collect and analyze data pertaining to academic programmes at NTU and other top universities and other key metrics as inputs for progress assessment and decision-makings by college leadership.
Collate and prepare Colleges self-assessment report for College Visiting Committee.
Strategic Planning
Develop and implement strategic plans from analysis aligning them with the broader goals of NTU. This includes identifying opportunitiesfor growth innovation and academic excellence for CoS and Schools.
Serve as the Colleges strategic liaison for international engagement.
Work closely with the Associate Dean (Faculty Affairs) to support faculty workforce planning recruitment strategies and faculty affairs initiatives contributing to the Colleges long-term academic strength and talent sustainability.
Partnership and Alliance
Develop partnerships and alliances within and outside of the CoS. This will include representing CoS in interactions or cultivating relationships with external stakeholders such as alumni donors government agencies and professional organizations.
Execution and Monitoring
Institute applicable metrics and performance indices to measure progress of strategic plans. Adjustment and/or adaptation of the strategic plans to be recommended in response to evolving circumstances.
Risk Assessment
Identify strategic risks and recommend necessary action to mitigate/eliminate these risks.
Requirements:
Bachelors or Masters qualification in STEM-related discipline from a recognized institution
Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills
Good written and verbalcommunication and presentation skills
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with good time management skills
IT savvy with good knowledgein Microsoft Office Applications
