Design Manager, Transportation

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to support our growing portfolio of Design & Build (D&B) projects within the Transportation sector (Railway Aviation Marine and Civil & Structural).
This role will bridge the gap between consultant-led design and contractor execution ensuring that design outputs are practical buildable and aligned with contractor methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multi-disciplinary design teams across transportation projects
Drive design coordination in Design & Build environments
Interface closely with contractors to ensure constructability and efficient delivery
Drive construction innovation of the infrastructure design works and to improve constructability aspects of the design
Provide guidance to internal teams on contractor expectations (drawings detailing standards submission formats buildability considerations)
Support tender stage design input for D&B pursuits
Ensure timely production of high-quality practical and efficient design outputs
Mentor and train team members on D&B mindset and contractor collaboration

Qualifications :

Requirements
Chartered Engineer (MHKIE / MICE or equivalent)
Strong experience in Transportation infrastructure (Railway / Aviation / Marine / C&S)
Proven experience in Design & Build project delivery
Deep understanding of contractor workflows and construction methodologies
Track record of delivering fast efficient and buildable design solutions
Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
Familiarity with Singapore infrastructure market and regulatory environment

Key Competencies
Has worked closely with contractors (either from consultant side with strong site exposure or ex-contractor design background)
Understands what makes a design practical and executable
Knows which design approaches are build-friendly rather than theoretical
Can elevate the teams D&B capability
