Job Description:

The HR Director based in India provides strategic and operational HR leadership across the APAC region (India SEA and China). The role ensures effective execution of Greifs HR strategy and alignment with business objectives across multiple countries and business units. The HR Director partners closely with senior leadership to drive talent and capability development strengthen organizational effectiveness and foster a culture of performance inclusion and continuous improvement across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Regional Leadership

  • Provide strategic HR direction and partnership to senior leaders across India Southeast Asia and China.
  • Translate global HR strategy into actionable regional initiatives that support business growth and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead HR teams across the APAC region to deliver consistent high-quality HR services and business support.
  • Collaborate with regional business leaders to anticipate workforce needs and enable organizational agility.

Competence Hub Development and Leadership

  • Establish and lead the India Competence Hub integrating HR Finance IT and Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to deliver high-quality scalable services supporting Greifs global operations.
  • Build an operating model that ensures strong collaboration and alignment with the EMEA Competence Hub in Budapest further driving global standardization efficiency and process excellence.
  • Recruit develop and manage a high-performing multi-functional team to support global and regional operations.
  • Implement governance structures performance metrics and continuous improvement practices to ensure hub success.

HR Systems Analytics and Compliance

  • Ensure effective utilization and optimization of Workday for HR processes such as talent management workforce planning and organizational analytics.
  • Oversee HR operations supported by a global Payroll provider ensuring accurate payroll benefits and compliance management in line with local labor laws.
  • Leverage HR data and analytics to provide insights and inform decision-making at regional and global levels.
  • Ensure full compliance with employment legislation across India SEA and China maintaining alignment with global HR policies and standards.

Talent and Capability Development

  • Drive talent management workforce planning and leadership development initiatives across the APAC region.
  • Build organizational capabilities to enable business growth and operational excellence.
  • Foster a strong inclusive and performance-driven culture that aligns with Greifs values.

Collaboration and Governance

  • Partner with global and regional stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment across HR Finance IT and shared service initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws employment standards and company policies.
  • Leverage data analytics and insights to inform people strategy and decision-making.

Operational and Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the Competence Hubs annual budget and resource planning.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure scalability and sustainability of hub operations as business needs evolve.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field; postgraduate degree or MBA (HR specialization) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience in multinational or large Indian organizations with a focus on regional or global operations.
  • Proven success in leading HR functions across multiple countries or business units within the APAC region.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing or managing shared service centers capability hubs or centers of excellence in India.
  • Strong understanding of Indias employment legislation talent landscape and HR operational frameworks along with exposure to Southeast Asia and China markets.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire engage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and strong sense of ownership demonstrating accountability initiative and the ability to deliver results.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of HR strategy transformation and governance.
  • Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets and resource allocation effectively.
  • Experience in managing organizational change and implementing large-scale HR or service delivery transformations.
  • Proficiency with HR systems analytics and modern digital HR tools.
