About The Role
Youll be the connective tissue between department heads and talent owning the full candidate journey from first touch to fully onboarded.
This is not a traditional recruiting role. No resume sifting for hours. No six-round interview marathons. No waiting weeks for hiring committee decisions.
Our process is different. We run a single interview. We use video submissions to screen at scale. We leverage AI and automation to move faster than traditional recruiting orgs. If youre used to slow bureaucratic hiring processes this will feel like strapping a rocket to your back.
Youll be the voice of the company for candidates taking their first steps with us. That means excellent verbal communication isnt optional its the job. Youll handle initial meet & greet calls answer questions about our unconventional compensation structure (including sweat equity) and set the tone for what working here is actually like.
Compensation
Up to $150000 max total compensation in Tier 1 cities; cash and equity components to be negotiated (amount reflects combined cash and equity components).
What Success Looks Like in 30 Days
- Youve taken ownership of candidate pipelines across multiple channels Upwork Indeed LinkedIn and beyond
- Youve mastered our video-first screening workflow and are processing candidates at high velocity
- Youve conducted meet & greet calls and confidently explained our sweat equity model to candidates
- Youve coordinated smoothly with department heads understanding their hiring needs and keeping them informed without overwhelming them
- Youve identified bottlenecks in the process and proposed solutions
- Youve begun onboarding new hires and established a repeatable playbook
What Youll Do
- Own the candidate pipeline manage candidates from application to offer across all channels (Upwork Indeed LinkedIn referrals and unconventional sources)
- Conduct meet & greet calls serve as the first human touchpoint representing the company with warmth and professionalism
- Explain sweat equity clearly articulate our compensation philosophy including how equity-heavy structures work and why they matter
- Coordinate with department heads understand hiring priorities across teams route candidates appropriately and keep stakeholders updated without creating noise
- Leverage video for scale use video submissions and async communication to screen candidates faster than traditional methods allow
- Work the platforms navigate Upworks talent marketplace alongside traditional job boards; understand what works on each
- Build and optimize workflows use automation tools to reduce manual work and increase throughput
- Own onboarding ensure new hires have what they need to hit the ground running; create documentation that scales
- Track and report maintain visibility into pipeline health time-to-hire and channel performance
- Iterate relentlessly test new sourcing channels messaging approaches and process improvements; kill what doesnt work
What Were Looking For
- 3 years in recruiting talent operations or a high-functioning EA role with recruiting responsibilities
- Excellent verbal communication youre articulate personable and can represent the company in calls with strangers
- Experience with Upwork or similar freelance platforms you understand how contract marketplaces work
- Familiarity with traditional job boards (Indeed LinkedIn etc.) and how to optimize postings for visibility
- Comfortable explaining compensation structures including equity vesting and unconventional arrangements like sweat equity
- Tech-savvy comfortable with automation tools ATS systems video platforms and whatever else we throw at you
- High velocity mindset you thrive when moving fast and dont need a committee to make decisions
- Organized and reliable multiple department heads will depend on you; dropping balls isnt an option
- Experience at a venture-backed startup is a plus
- Bonus: experience with high-volume recruiting or scaling a team rapidly
