As the Engineering Team Lead within the Workplace department you will play a critical
role in shaping the employee experience for our global teams. You will lead a squad of 3
System Administrators responsible for our core identity and device management
ecosystems (Okta JumpCloud) within a Google Workspace-first environment.
Beyond technical expertise your mission is to be a bridge-builder. You will work hand-in-
hand with the Helpdesk to break down operational silos partner with Application
Management on licensing strategies and support the Campus/PMI teams to ensure
seamless integration of new offices and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Technical Excellence
Manage & Mentor: Lead coach and develop a team of 3 Workplace Engineers.
Foster a culture of growth autonomy and technical curiosity.
Technical Authority: Champion a tech culture focused on security and best
practices for Identity Access Management (Okta) and MDM (JumpCloud) specifically
within a mixed macOS/Windows and Google Workspace environment.
Engineering Standards: Design and deliver high-quality secured scalable
processes. Ensure best practices in testing deployment and documentation.
Performance Monitoring: Define and track KPIs to measure system health and
team efficiency ensuring data-driven decision-making.
2. Automation & Operational Efficiency
Automation First Mindset: Drive the shift from manual operations to automated
workflows. Your goal is to eliminate repetitive tasks (Toil) for both your team and
the Helpdesk.
Workflow Orchestration: Leverage Okta Workflows Google Apps Script or API
integrations to streamline User Lifecycle Management (onboarding offboarding
attribute syncing).
Self-Service Tools: Build tools or scripts that empower the Helpdesk to resolve L1
issues autonomously without escalating tickets to the Engineering team.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Workplace Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Helpdesk Team to create a
unified support chain. Your goal is to empower L2/L3 support through better process
tools and documentation reducing the escalation rate to Engineering. Work alongside
Campus & PMI Teams to standardize IT infrastructure for remote sites and integrate
new entities efficiently.
Mentoring & Communication : Encourage adoption of Workplace best practices and
architecture changes throughout the company via evangelism and education
Application Governance: Partner with the Application Management Team to
centralize SaaS license distribution and optimize costs via automated provisioning.
Global Expansion: Extend visibility beyond the IT department partnering with
Product Marketing and other stakeholders to ensure Workplace initiatives support
broader business goals.
Qualifications :
Experience: 10 years in IT Systems Engineering with a strong focus on
automation and scalability.
Technical Stack:
Expertise in IAM/SSO (Okta certification is a plus).
Strong mastery of MDM/UEM (JumpCloud preferred).
Deep knowledge of the Google Workspace ecosystem.
Automation Skills (Required):
Proficiency in scripting (Python Bash or PowerShell).
Experience with REST APIs and integration logic.
Proven ability to use automation tools (e.g. Okta Workflows Zapier Tines) to
solve business problems.
Soft Skills:
