Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) the Student Success Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning coordination and implementation of Summer Institute program for EOP and other similar student populations program participants and support for fall transition courses. Additionally this position will work closely with several campus partners including the Office of Writing and Learning the Mustang Success Center and University Advising and Retention to connect students with the academic support programs and resources provided by those units. For Summer Institute responsibilities include coordination of enrollment in summer courses communication financial aid on-campus housing hiring and management of student assistants and events. Campus coordination with similar campus efforts is required and include collaboration with the office of admissions financial aid housing orientation advising registrar information technology services and academic colleges & departments. |
Department Summary Within the division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Residential Student Experience Equity and Transition (RESET) provides comprehensive programs that offer transition and retention services to students. These programs include Cal Poly Scholars Career Services Center for Military Connected Students Disability Resource Center Educational Opportunity Program Residential Student Experience TRIO Achievers and Upward Bound. Cal Poly Scholars EOP TRIO Achievers and similar programs are highly visible programs that combine access academic support holistic advising and supplemental financial assistance to make higher education possible for students who have the potential to succeed. Proactive counseling retention objectives and program planning assist with the timely progress toward degree attainment for EOP students. |
Key Qualifications - Demonstrated ability in providing information and assistance in an educational setting preferably to high school and community college students.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations analyze and define the problem draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action.
- Demonstrated ability in helping students from a diverse range of cultural and economic backgrounds and have knowledge of issues facing non-traditional college students.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulations policies and procedures; and must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse population both verbally and in writing.
- General knowledge of the principles practices theories and trends of higher education as well as general knowledge of policies procedures and practices of providing student services support to underrepresented first-generation and/or low-income students.

Education and Experience - Equivalent to graduate from a four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques.
- Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student service work experience.
- A masters degree in counseling clinical psychology social work or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.

Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range:$69804 - $77951 Per Year
Classification Range: $66480 - $94716 Per Year Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
