To be responsible for ensuring adherence to the correct standards of maintenance on Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) and facilities used in underground mining operations
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Ensuring all TMM is maintained and operated properly and compliance to Local regulations and Valterra standards.
- Oversee the quality of workmanship and conduct regular inspections on maintenance and workshop facilities.
- Ensuring Mobile Equipment workshops are equipped with appropriate tools and facilities.
- Ensuring tools and equipment are inspected and calibrated according to the appropriate standards.
- Inspect and ensure quality on component repairs according to the Valterra standards.
- Liaise with the other Engineering Specialists and Foremen to ensure that any problems that could overlap with other sections are pro-actively identified and discussed.
- Will execute any reasonable work instruction provided by any senior or team members to ensure the effective completion of a task or safe making of an area.
- Identifying operational priorities within the section that would ensure the optimization of the sections performance.
- Monitoring the Central logistics process to identify any possible problems or risk areas to the section and schedule remedy actions.
- Ensuring availability of spares in stock and proper storage of the spares to prevent deterioration before use.
- Ensuring that all the data captured on the operational and technical management information and control systems are accurate and timeous.
- Regularly review operational and technical data to extract trends identify problems and comply management reports.
- Supporting the development of maintenance readiness plans including workshop setup tooling spares and technical documentation.
- Capturing and escalate defects production delays or non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
- Provide technical oversight to maintenance service providers
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in equipment performance availability maintainability and participating in defect elimination programs.
- Mentor apprentices and artisans to build technical capacity within the team.
Qualifications :
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Ten years post Engineering qualification experience (degree) or Five years experience in Senior Engineering Supervision
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics transmissions drivelines and TMM safety systems.
