This position is Maintenance and Operations Supervisor for the Maintenance and Repair Section of Engineering Service and is responsible for the operation maintenance and repair of the complete carpentry masonry welding sheet metal work and locksmith programs for more than fifty buildings as well as grounds management for the medical center campus of more than two hundred acres located in Bath NY.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor must occasionally lift and carry items up to fifty (50lbs) pounds in weight and operate electric and pneumatic tools set up and operate hoists pulleys and other items to accomplish the work. The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor will climb crawl stoop bend and stretch while performing tasks associated with this position. The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor must be able to be respirator qualified.
The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor is required to work inside and outside in adverse conditions if necessary he/she is subject to falls bruises burns cuts broken bones working in damp drafty places or hot and dusty places stooping bending stretching working on ladders scaffolds on roofs and in cramped and confining spaces. Uncomfortable protective clothing may occasionally be worn and he/she is occasionally subject to large amounts of escaping gases when making emergency repairs.

The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
