Job Description Summary
As a member of the Gas Power Operational Controllership team you will be an active contributor to the EMEA General Accounting team. The Lead Finance Specialist is responsible for driving accounting compliance financial reconciliations and closings applying financial controls and participating in process simplification initiatives where applicable to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis on the region scope for the New Units Projects subregion (France and Switzerland).
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for coordinating and driving timely edit check clearing in the subregion
- Lead corresponding month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Understand and own Other Receivable balances in scope
- Provide accounting support and analysis on personnel related accounts (Payroll/Pension) and equity accounts
- Oversee other tax / nontax transactions on the French legal entity
- Provide support and relevant analysis to other Finance functions when required
- Ensure proper documentation and recording of transactions in scope in compliance with accounting standards
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions
- Perform and review account reconciliations
- Partner with MSP resources to make sure all Account Reconciliations are completed and follow-up items resolved on time
- Participate in financial simplification initiatives where applicable
- Provide ad hoc support of statutory or tax audits
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university/college in Accounting Finance or relevant discipline or equivalent knowledge or experience
- Significant experience in general accounting / Knowledge of general accounting policies and practices
- Fluent English knowledge is essential
- Proficient in accounting software
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Can manage expectations in autonomy with various third parties and management
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Desired Characteristics
- System ERP Expertise: SAP
- Significant GEV (or equivalent) Finance / Controllership experience
- Strong knowledge of GEV systems closing and reporting processes
- Some French knowledge a plus
- Strong influencing skills combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Adaptable/flexible; open to change in response to new information and ambiguous situations
