Job Summary
Summary
This is a Full-Time Faculty Tenure-Track appointment in the Federal Service with an initial term not-to-exceed 06/26/ to additional one or two-year terms are possible. If tenure is achieved (after four to six years) employment will bemade permanent provided a satisfactory performance appraisal is received annually
As a Mathematician (Assistant Professor) you will be:
- Responsible for the development and conduct of educational courses and programs within thedepartment in particular teaching courses in Mathematics.
- Responsible for conducting research instruction and academic counseling of Midshipmen andassuming a share of departmental and other academic responsibilities.
The Ideal Candidatemust be a highly motivated and experienced professional possessing a Doctorate degreein mathematics and experience teaching all levels of undergraduate mathematics courses. Must possess aminimum of one-year full-time experience teaching Mathematics courses in a college or university other thanas a part of teaching assistantship. Experience with computer programing and computer languages such asPython is a plus.

- TRIAL PERIOD:This is anExcepted Serviceposition. This job will be filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive service. Applicants selected for an excepted serviceposition may be subject to a two-year trial period.

Qualifications
To be qualified for this position you must meet the education requirements and have experience teaching college level courses in the required field of study.
- To qualify forMathematics (Assistant Professor)you must possessa minimum of one year full-time (or equivalent) experience teaching undergraduate-level Calculus Differential Equations and/or Probability & Statistics courses in a college or university other than as part of a teaching assistantship. Experience in applied mathematics is preferred.
OR Equivalent: Adjunct work at a college campus temporary replacement. Can be accumulated multiple years as faculty at various institutions. Either as a total of 10 months of work (like most schools) or a minimum of 4 3 credit courses.
Highly Desirable: Experience with computer programing and computer languages such as Python.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Developing Others Develops the ability of others to perform and contribute to the organization by providingongoing feedback and by providing opportunities to learn through formal and informal.
- Education and Training Knowledge of teaching training research making presentations lecturing testingand other instructional methods.
For all types of consideration experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience

Education
Minimum Education Requirement: To qualify for the mathematics (Assistant Professor) position thecandidate must possess a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics or aclosely related mathematics field including but not limited to Statistics or Operations Research.
