COUNTY FUNDED POSITION
SUMMARY:Provide high-level and high-volume case management support to the Guardianship division reviewing guardianship reports guardian fee petitions and other pleadings filed by guardians. Perform case management functions train new staff and interns and supervise interns assigned to Guardianship Case Management (GCM).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: Four years of related work experience.
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree in legal studies paralegal business administration business management social work or closely related field.
SUBSTITUTIONS: Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year for-year basis
Review guardianship files reports petitions for guardian fees and make recommendations to the Court.
Monitor department email account for inquiries reply as needed.
Attend guardianship hearings and present oral reports to the judges and magistrates assist in problem-solving on difficult cases.
Serve as a court monitor to conduct investigations in guardianship cases interviewing guardians wards and caregivers examining documents and compiling findings into detailed reports for judicial review.
Provide assistance to pro se guardians as needed
Participate in cross-training within the department and support administrative and clerical tasks to include answering the main phone line assisting callers with community resources and addressing general questions
Facilitate 4-hour and 8-hour non-professional guardianship classes.
Assist the program and the Court with handling higher-level case issues which require complex and/or multidisciplinary case management services.
Provide training to new staff members and serve as liaison for GCM interns.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive computer literacy including a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word Outlook Excel and database management.
Ability to manage time effectively
Skill to prioritize heavy workload and remain calm under pressure.
Ability to utilize critical thinking and organizational skills to analyze and ensure guardianship fee petitions are processed accurately.
Ability to read professional publications such as Florida Statutes Chapter 744 Administrative Orders and apply work processes.
Ability to coordinate work involving guidelines and rules with constant problem-solving; requiring continuous close attention for accurate results.
Aptitude to communicate clearly concisely and logically both verbally and in writing.
Ability to problem-solve and make recommendations to the Court.
Propensity to use utmost discretion when handling confidential information.
Candidate must exhibit a high-level of professionalism and integrity.
