Service Technician III (Master-Level Transit Vehicles) Location: Riverside CA (Headquarters)
Pay Rate: $38.00 $42.00 per hour

Travel: 70% (Domestic; air travel required)
Position Summary
The Service Technician III is a master-level technical expert responsible for advanced diagnostics troubleshooting and repair of complex mechanical electrical pneumatic and electronic systems on transit vehicles. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and plays a critical role in delivering service excellence across customer sites production and engineering.
In addition to hands-on technical work the Service Technician III leads complex service projects mentors junior technicians provides remote and on-site technical support and contributes to quality product improvement and continuous improvement initiatives. This role may also deliver technical training to customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities Advanced Diagnostics & Repair

Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical electrical electronic and pneumatic vehicle systems

Calibrate repair and maintain critical system components and safety equipment

Lead complex repair and service projects with minimal supervision

Ensure repairs meet safety quality and performance standards
Technical Leadership & Support

Serve as a technical escalation point and SME for Service Technicians I & II

Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to field and customer teams

Mentor and train junior technicians through hands-on coaching and guidance

Review service documentation for technical accuracy and completeness
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Coordinate with engineering production warranty and OEM partners to resolve complex service issues

Support production quality control and engineering product improvement initiatives

Identify recurring issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Training & Continuous Improvement

Deliver technical training to external customers and internal production teams as needed

Participate in ongoing technical training to stay current with evolving technologies

Provide input on service process improvements and best practices
Safety & Compliance

Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition

Follow and promote company safety policies and regulatory requirements

Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and transportation standards
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Expert knowledge of mechanical hydraulic electrical and diagnostic systems

Strong troubleshooting root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills

Proven leadership mentoring and project coordination abilities

Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals

Proficiency with diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced field environments

Willingness and ability to travel extensively including overnight and emergency assignments

Physical ability to perform demanding field service work
Education Experience & Licensing

High school diploma or GED required
-
Associate degree or vocational/technical training preferred
-
5 years of relevant service or repair experience in transit vehicles automotive heavy equipment or manufacturing environments
-
Valid drivers license required; must be able to obtain a commercial license

Ability to maintain required travel documentation (passport government-issued ID)
-
Certifications such as ASE EPA or equivalent are a plus
