The Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Campus Minister for the Catholic Student Center at the University of Maryland. The Campus Ministry team is composed of a Chaplain Campus Ministry and Development Staff and FOCUS missionaries who work together to implement the collaboration with the Chaplain the Campus Minister will be responsible for the following:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Practice an ongoing ministry of presence on campus including fall and spring recruitment
- Empower and mentor student leadership including regular meetings with student leaders.
- Facilitate opportunities for students to encounter Christ through the Sacraments along with social service and spiritual programs retreats and events.
- Work creatively with the Campus Ministry team to develop new ways to evangelize and reach the student population at the University.
- Coordinate in particular opportunities for students to encounter Christ in the poor and other service opportunities including mission trips.
- Oversee Campus Ministry communications and other administrative tasks
- Assist development staff in outreach to alumni and benefactors which includes calling meeting one-on-one inviting alumni and potential benefactors to give to the mission as well as strong administrative follow-up.
- Help liaison with the University Chaplaincy program and the campus ministry staff of other denominations.
- Attend meetings and ongoing formation with the Office of Campus and Young Adult Ministry
- Collaborate with the Office of Campus and Young Adult Ministry and the other campus ministers in the Archdiocese of Washington.
- Implement the goals identified by the USCCBs pastoral letter on campus ministry Empowered by the Spirit
- Meet regularly for visioning and planning with the Chaplain CSC staff and FOCUS missionaries.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Practicing Catholic joyfully living in good standing with a passion for the Churchs mission of evangelization
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and creatively.
Education and Experience
- Three years or more of campus ministry experience
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in theology or related field
- Experience with relational ministry and mentoring
- Experience with administrative functions (budgeting development institutional relationships)
- Experience with Microsoft Office social media website management and graphic design
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers printers and filing cabinets. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full time employee 40 hours per week; regular weeknight and occasional weekend hours required as well as travel for retreats and mission trips.
The salary for this role is $55000 to $65000 with excellent benefits.
