About the Drug Substance Division (DSD)
The Drug Substance Division (DSD) is one of three divisions within Thermo Fisher Scientifics Pharma Services Group (PSG). We specialize in both small- and large-molecule development and commercial drug substance services enabling us to serve small/emerging mid-sized and large pharmaceutical customers globally. Together with the expertise and resources of the broader PSG organization DSD offers a uniquely integrated CDMO platform. Our Quick-to-Care and Quick-to-Clinic programs allow customers to partner with us as an end-to-end provider across the supply chainfrom development through commercialization.
Position Summary
As Sr Manager Inventory Controls you will lead inventory management initiatives across Thermo Fisher Scientifics Drug Substance Division optimizing processes across multiple global sites. You will define and guide the divisions inventory strategy develop operational roadmaps and collaborate closely with Finance to establish and achieve inventory targets.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic multicultural environment coordinating with inventory control leaders across all DSD facilities while driving global process standardization best practices and continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact organizational performance and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute inventory management initiatives across multiple global Drug Substance Division sites
Define and maintain the divisions inventory strategy and operational roadmap
Partner with Finance to establish inventory targets performance metrics and governance processes
Drive global process standardization and implementation of inventory control best practices
Design and optimize inventory structures to support business growth and scalability
Lead cross-functional multi-site improvement projects with measurable business impact
Collaborate closely with Supply Chain Procurement Commercial and Finance teams
Support organizational change management and continuous improvement initiatives
Provide leadership and influence within matrixed global organizations
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced degree plus 6 years of experience OR Bachelors degree plus 8 years of experience in Supply Chain or Operations Management
Experience in high-mix low-volume manufacturing environments
Strong expertise in inventory control procedures and financial management
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-site and cross-functional improvement initiatives
Experience working with ERP systems
Excellent communication presentation and stakeholder management skills
Proven ability to build consensus and develop effective cross-functional partnerships
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Travel Requirement: Approximately 25% domestic and international
Preferred Qualifications
APICS certification and/or professional certifications in Project Management or Organizational Change Management
Leadership experience within matrixed organizations
Experience in organizational change management and process improvement
Detail-oriented project management capabilities
Experience working in global multicultural environments
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check which includes a drug screening.
Equivalent combinations of education training and meaningful work experience may be considered.
