Role Purpose
The Accounts Head is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting financial control and statutory compliance for the manufacturing plant. The role ensures accurate financial reporting strong internal controls and effective supervision of plant accounting operations in line with company policies and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Finalisation of monthly quarterly and annual books of accounts in compliance with applicable accounting standards
- Timely plant-wise financial closing and reporting to corporate finance
- Preparation and review of MIS variance analysis and financial summaries for plant management
- Accounting Operations & Controls
- Supervision and review of accounting activities related to:
- Accounts Payable (vendor accounting payments reconciliations)
- Accounts Receivable (customer accounting collections reconciliations)
- Inventory accounting including RM WIP FG and stock movements
- Fixed Assets accounting capitalization depreciation and physical verification
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting entries and reconciliations
- Maintain strong internal controls and adherence to SOPs
- Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Monitor inventory valuation stock reconciliations and variance analysis
- Ensure proper accounting of production consumption scrap and yield
- Support cost control initiatives and provide inputs for product costing
- Statutory Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with GST TDS Income Tax and other applicable statutory requirements
- Preparation and review of statutory returns and filings
- Coordination with statutory auditors internal auditors and tax consultants
- Timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions
- Systems & Process Management
- Effective utilization of ERP systems (SAP FI/CO preferred) for accounting and reporting
- Support system controls automation and continuous process improvements
- Ensure data integrity and system-driven controls for plant accounting
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead mentor and supervise the plant accounts team
- Allocate work review outputs and ensure adherence to timelines
- Coordinate with plant operations procurement stores and corporate finance teams
Qualifications
Chartered Accountant (CA) – Mandatory
Experience
Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in manufacturing organizations and able to handle a team of 5 to 6 people
Candidates with experience in consulting firms will not be considered
Strong exposure to plant/factory accounting is essential
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with SAP (FI/CO modules preferred)
- Exposure to e-commerce accounting will be an added advantage
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting inventory control and fixed assets
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools
