JOB TITLE:
Research Aide Flash Pyrolysis
JOB PURPOSE:
This position exists to support the research of SERs Center for Carbon Capture and Conversion (CCCC) on novel sustainable ways to convert coal to other materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grinding and sieving coal to prepare samples operating flash pyrolysis reactor cleaning reactor after runs replacing and fixing components on various equipment testing and analyzing flash pyrolysis products (all under the supervision of a research scientist). Testing may include Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) Mass Spectrometry (MS) and Gas Chromatography (GC). Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist with laboratory testing as required.
COMPETENCIES:
Ability to learn.
Interest in laboratory work.
Organized.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current UW student in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Chemistry or a related natural science or engineering discipline.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic exposure to a laboratory setting.
Problem solving capabilities.
Works well independently and in team environments.
