ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leadership & Team Development
Lead coach and develop maintenance and engineering teams to drive accountability engagement and performance.
Foster a culture of safety collaboration continuous improvement and ownership across all maintenance and engineering disciplines.
Provide clear direction performance feedback and development opportunities for supervisors and team members.
Promote effective labor relations and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Maintenance & Engineering Coordination
Align maintenance and engineering strategies to support operational reliability efficiency and quality.
Ensure seamless coordination between maintenance execution and engineering planning to minimize downtime and maximize asset life.
Establish preventive predictive and reliability-based maintenance practices.
Partner with Operations to prioritize work plan outages and coordinate major repairs
Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Maintain a high level of communication and alignment with the Director of Operations regarding performance risks priorities and resource needs.
Collaborate closely with Operations Safety Purchasing and Finance to support mill objectives.
Serve as a technical and leadership resource for plant initiatives and problem-solving efforts.
Capital Projects & Major Maintenance
Lead capital improvement (CAPEX) and major maintenance projects from concept through execution and closeout.
Develop project scopes schedules budgets and ROI justifications.
Manage contractors vendors and internal project teams to ensure projects are completed safely on time and within budget.
Oversee commissioning documentation and transition of projects to Operations and Maintenance teams.
Financial & Asset Management
Develop and manage departmental budgets including maintenance spend and capital investments.
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining reliability and safety.
Support long-term asset management and replacement planning.
Safety Quality & Compliance
Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA environmental and company safety standards.
Ensure maintenance and engineering practices support product quality and regulatory requirements.
Participate in incident investigations hazard analyses and corrective action development.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in maintenance and/or engineering leadership within an industrial or manufacturing environment (paper manufacturing preferred).
Demonstrated experience leading teams managing capital projects and supporting 24/7 operations.
Papermaking processes equipment and quality systems
Mechanical electrical and controls systems

Preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies
Safety systems hazard analysis and regulatory compliance
