Position Overview

In this impactful position the HR Generalist reports to the HR Business Partner at our compounding plant in Indianapolis Indiana with occasional support of other facilities required. This position is ideal for individuals looking to build a foundation in HR and grow within the field. You will have the opportunity to impact the organizations success by fostering a positive employee experience ensuring a compliant workplace environment and contributing to the strategic goals of the HR department.

The HR Generalist plays a key role in maintaining HR data accuracy and supporting the team in implementing HR policies and procedures. The HR Generalist is proactive resourceful and committed to building a supportive and compliant workplace environment. This individual requires strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment Onboarding & Offboarding:

  • Collaborate with the recruiting team and hiring managers to manage job postings develop job descriptions and support recruitment efforts.

  • Coordinate and schedule interviews pre-boarding orientation and onboarding activities for new hires and internal job moves.

  • Maintain onboarding documentation and update HRIS records accordingly.

  • Conduct and process exit interviews and offboarding paperwork including checklists and HRIS updates.

  • Perform administrative tasks related to recruitment and onboarding including data entry and recordkeeping.

Employee Relations & Engagement:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns coordinating responses across departments.

  • Support conflict resolution dispute mediation and employee relations escalations to the HRBP.

  • Organize and participate in employee engagement activities celebrations and committees.

  • Promote workplace health and safety initiatives and ensure performance management procedures are followed.

Payroll Benefits & Compensation:

  • Manage weekly payroll processes including report reviews attendance reconciliation and disciplinary documentation.

  • Maintain and update payroll system data (e.g. rate changes position movements terminations).

  • Address employee payroll inquiries and administer workers compensation and guest claims.

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and provide guidance on benefits programs.

Compliance Policies & Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Support adherence to company policies and procedures and assist in policy updates.

  • Oversee employee leave and claims processes (e.g. FMLA STD LTD).

  • Assist with documentation and reporting for Affirmative Action Planning and audits.

  • Collaborate with management to implement HR initiatives aligned with strategic goals.

Administration & Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate employee records in both physical and digital formats including HRIS updates and audits.

  • Produce and maintain HR reports including monthly summaries and metrics tracking.

  • Create and maintain HR purchasing requests including tracking receiving and submitting invoices for payment.

  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions and seminars including scheduling and attendance tracking.

  • Perform general administrative tasks such as managing databases sorting emails and maintaining filing systems.

  • Ensure HR supplies and materials are stocked and available.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Knowledge of basic employment laws and HR practices.

  • Experience with ADP Workday and SAP preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of HR experience.

Work Environment:

  • This role is based on-site at the Indianapolis IN manufacturing facility with the HR office located at the main entrance to enable real-time engagement with employees leadership and visitors.

  • Regular shop floor presence is required to build relationships and stay connected to operations.

  • Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume fast-paced environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems.

  • Extended periods of sitting or standing at a desk or workstation completing repetitive tasks such as typing which may require dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Will be required to sit bend kneel squat use a keyboard read write and speak fluently.

  • Employee will occasionally be required to lift and carry objects of 5-10 pounds as needed.

  • Industrial environment with exposure to noise machinery and varying temperatures.
