Job Description
The Desert Research Institutes (DRI) STEM K-12 Education Program is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a full-time STEM Workforce Development Specialist. The STEM Workforce Development Specialist will assist with the running of workforce development programs and curriculum creation and implementation and overseeing of STEM equipment. This innovative position allows for creative input and would be a great fit for an individual who is excited about STEM learning for the younger audience. This position is located at DRIs Las Vegas NV campus.
Key Job Duties:
Oversee logistics for STEM Force program which includes: arranging the curriculum for the program under supervisor oversight identifying potential speakers and field trip locations and identifying and managing supplies needed for the duration of the program
Present STEM topics and run hands-on activities for workforce development participants including but not limited to: K-12 students at-risk youth community members
Assist with workforce development programs. Identify needed scheduling assist with promotion and the development of promotional items
Oversee technology equipment check-outs and returns contact participants for status as needed and manage inventory as well as prep and return of equipment
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year of related experience
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of STEM education practices and materials
Passion for STEM Education
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Physical Requirements: This position may need to occasionally perform physical tasks such as lifting objects up to 70 lbs. stooping bending kneeling and must able to stand for long periods of time.

This position is considered essential and not eligible for a flexible work schedule (FWS).
Salary/Benefits
This is a DRI Technologist position Grade 29 with a minimum starting annual salary of $49722. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and education and alignment with similar public academic-research institutions.
DRI offers a benefits package that includes health dental vision and life insurance (flexible spending and health savings account options available); PERS 19.25% retirement match 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month and 12 paid holidays. Additionally there is no state income tax or social security deduction.
