Job Summary

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Excavator Operator on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville Districts history valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration aiming to enhance ecosystem health improve water storage and increase resilience to climate change.

Job Title: ExcavatorOperator

Pay:Competitive compensation package based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate GPS-equipped hydraulic excavators ranging from Cat 336 to Cat 352 size in accordance with project specifications and siterequirements.
  • Perform fine grading of slopes benches and subgrades using GPS machine control and/or laser guidance systems.
  • Excavate shape and trim slopes to design tolerances while maintaining grade accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Place rip rap and large stone in a controlled and precise manner including slope protection and structural applications.
  • Load haul trucks efficiently and safely while maintaining proper load distribution and cycle times.
  • Feed and load crushers and screeners in accordance with production and safety requirements.
  • Follow all company safety policies including taking specific action to avoid other workers equipment and potential obstructions.
  • Operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines GPS system requirements and site-specific instructions.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or repair needs.
  • Maintain situational awareness when working near personnel structures utilities and active equipment.
  • Assist with general earthwork operations and be willing to perform manual labor when not actively operating equipment.
  • Maintain clean orderly work areas around excavation and loading zones.
  • Conduct all work with 100% integrity professionalism and commitment to safety and quality.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating large hydraulic excavators on heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience operating Cat 336Cat 352 class excavators or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to perform GPS-controlled excavation and fine grading of slopes and subgrades.
  • Experience placing rip rap and loading crushers screeners and haul trucks preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans grade stakes and GPS models.
  • Ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors grade checkers and field personnel.
  • Strong commitment to contributing to a culture of safety quality workmanship and teamwork.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole bodysuch as climbing lifting balancing walking stooping and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts with non-standard break times.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination quick reaction times.
  • Able to work in confined or enclosed spaces.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to wear a hard hat safety glasses gloves and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more)
  • Able to Enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground.
  • Able to sit in the operators seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals switches levers buttons etc. required to safely operate theequipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment)
  • Capable of sitting in the operators seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments gauges warning lights aswell as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment)
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and localstandards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards
  • Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly on telephone
