Job Summary

Executive Officer HR and Finance in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 534320) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and mutual agreement.)
The Faculty of Business and Economics of The University of Hong Kong (HKU Business School) strives to foster both academic and applied research to serve the needs of Hong Kong China and the rest of the world in the fast-changing global economy. The Faculty is currently elevating its research centres and institutes as an enabling platform to promote interdisciplinary research engage with the community and generate impacts on society. Information about the research centres/institutes can be obtained from The Faculty is going to build a team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals to support the growth and development of the research centres and institutes.
Applicants should possess a good bachelors degree or diploma preferably in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related discipline with at least 2 years work experience in administration preferably in the field of human resources and/or financial management. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese including Putonghua; good coordination communication and interpersonal skills; as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications. Those with knowledge and experience in using accounting software applications such as Oracle Financials is highly preferred. Applicants should also have a strong motivation in finding new and better ways of doing things within established policies and procedures; and have the competencies to multitask and prioritise work assignments efficiently to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision. Experience in developing policies protocols and procedures would be an advantage.
The appointee will:
report directly to a senior manager and act as the Centres/Institutes primary liaison with the Universitys administration offices and offer professional advice on human resources and financial matters;
assist in the recruitment appointment and other human resources matters of Centre/Institute staff including honorary/visiting researchers research support staff and professional staff;
participate in budget and resources planning to support the academic and operational activities of the Centres/Institutes;
manage grants and donations through proactive communication and coordination with Centre/Institute Directors and principal investigators;
make suggestions to continuously enhance existing protocols and supervise clerical staff to ensure that all financial procedures in procurement payments and reimbursements are handled in accordance with the established policies and regulations; and
prepare regular and ad-hoc financial reports to fulfil reporting and auditing requirements.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
