Job Summary

Position Summary

Coordinate and foster a comprehensive student activities program to improve student retention and provide opportunities for student engagement and leadership.

Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule E1 Grade 02: $50680 - $68169

(Salary placement within this range is determined by your documented years of full-time related work experience)

Work Hours: Monday through Thursday 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.; Friday 7:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the development coordination and governance of all student organizations at both campuses.
  2. Provide leadership development for members of student organizations.
  3. Advise student organization leaders/sponsors on college policy and procedures and campus resources.
  4. Sponsor the Student Government Association and Warhawk Ambassadors at both campuses.
  5. Organize and execute activities and events designed to build community for students with a focus on creating a comprehensive calendar of activities throughout the academic year.
  6. Work with public relations to create effective marketing strategies for programs and events and social media presence for Office of Student Engagement.
  7. Develop maintain and annually update the Student Engagement Guide.
  8. Manage the student engagement and club/organization budgets.
  9. Implement coordinate and oversee on-campus food service.
  10. Implement a wide variety of events activities and programs with a broad appeal to a residential student population.
  11. Coordinate in collaboration with Recruiting new student engagement activities for fall and spring semesters.
  12. Plan and conduct seminars conferences and workshops in compliance with the Drug Free Campus Act for students staff and faculty.
  13. Assist in the development of tools for assessing student organization needs measuring the achievement of student learning outcomes and ensuring high quality programming.
  14. Coordinate and monitor student elections.
  15. Process purchase orders for Student Engagement Office.
  16. Develop and maintain a Student Engagement Newsletter each semester.
  17. Work with the Intramural Coordinator to engage students in the Intramural Sports program.
  18. Assist standing Committee chairpersons with annual events such as Honors Day Graduation Student Success Symposium Veterans Day and 1st Generation Activities.
  19. Coordinate Voters registration/Constitution Day and civic engagement.
  20. Plan a Student Leadership Retreat and coordinate student involvement at annual ADSAA Student Leadership Institute.
  21. Serves on committees engaged in furthering the work of the institution when appointed or when elected.
  22. Alert supervisor of any issues in need of upper management attention.
  23. Supervise work-study students.
  24. Partner with Athletics Coordinator to coordinate and promote student attendance at athletic events such as Homecoming Week and other student spirit initiatives.
  25. Assist with new student orientation programming to ensure a smooth transition for new students.
  26. Manage student life spaces such as Hawks Lounge Student Union residence hall lounges etc. ensuring a safe welcoming environment and appropriate availability of supplies and resources.
  27. Track student activity participation assess programming impact and contribute to departmental strategic planning.
  28. Discern when confidentiality in work needs to be maintained and maintain that confidentiality.
  29. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  30. Perform related work as assigned by the Vice President of Student Services.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution is required.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years administrative support experience in a community college setting is required.
  3. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs for basic computer work (i.e. Word Excel) is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments.

  1. Successful experience in planning activities and programs for undergraduate students.
  2. Significant experience as a member of and leader of student clubs and organizations in a college community.
  3. High level of initiative planning communication and organizational skills.
  4. Extensive experience using positive personal relationship and community building skills to motivate exceptional performance with student leaders and community members.
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Possess the ability to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends as needed.
  7. Knowledge of community college policies and procedures.
  8. Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  9. Current knowledge of appropriate federal state and local rules and regulations governing Title IV and other financial aid.
  10. Knowledge of Banner/Ellucian system or a related program.
  11. Knowledge of generally accepted office practices and procedures including records management
  12. Knowledge of common business processes.
  13. Skill in operating a mouse to control a computer.
  14. Skill in operating a computer.
  15. Skill in utilizing a phone system.
  16. Skill in operating printer copy machine fax.
  17. Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds
  18. Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to prescribed routines.
  19. Ability to document instructions.
  20. Ability to make decisions based on correspondence data or other information.
  21. Ability to multi-task and prioritize issues.
  22. Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information.
  23. Ability to work with minimal supervision/work independently.
  24. Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times.
