Job Summary

SUMMARY
The Navigator serves as the first contact with the public and the building tenants of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit (SVdPD) Building. The Navigator observes and directs the activities in the entrances to both the North and South wings of the building focusing primarily on the South Wing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:
Exemplify the elements of SVdP: Spirituality Friendship and Service in all phases of work
  • Advance the mission goals and objectives in all applicable strategic plans
  • Support / Live / Adhere to theRuleand teachings set forth by Frederic Ozanam
  • Opens building at 8:00 am
  • Manages the registration of employees and visitors in and out of the complex
  • Coordinates deliveries & pick-up / removals of equipment within the complex
  • Provide clear and concise information and directions to visitors concerning the various agency services available
  • Answer telephone and give accurate information to caller inquiries; relay messages to appropriate staff member if needed
  • Responsible for mail; sorts and delivers incoming mail runs postage for all outgoing mail
  • Observes the activities and report sheets per directives of the Facility Administrator
  • Assist Facility Administrator in the observation of the contracted cleaners of the building; includes regular walk-through. Written observations to Facility Administrator may be required
  • Assist tenants or staff of SVdPD with information needs disbursement of building keys and serves as a communication link to the Facility Administrator
  • Monitor the parking and entrance cameras and maintain the video tapes and equipment for the cameras
  • Assist Facility Administrator with communication to all building occupants regarding severe storm warnings fire drills or evacuations
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the outside entrances
  • Administrative support for Energy Assistance Program / Team schedules appointments and mails letters of approval
  • Administrative support for both the Development and Conference Support departments
  • Administrative support for Food Depot
  • Schedules appointments for AARP Tax Preparation
  • Schedules appointments and intakes for Free Legal Service
  • Administrative support for both the Development and Conference Support/Food Pantry departments
  • Field all calls for Neighbors in Need and directs them to the appropriate Conference based on their zip code
  • Answer all website enquiries and respond based on the request or direct
