The Clinical Neurodiagnostic (CND) Assistant will support specific clinical neurophysiology areas within the Department of Neurology. These areas include Autonomics Electroencephalography (EEG) Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) Neurology Gait Lab Interoperative Neurophysiology Monitoring (IONM) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). The CND assistant will be cross trained in multiple areas of the practice based on departmental need. This position will primarily work in the Autonomic Lab with additional coverage in the Movement Lab as needed.

The Clinical Neurodiagnostic (CND) Assistant- Autonomic Lab:Works closely alongside technologist performing Autonomic Reflex Screen testing while also working collaboratively within a team setting. This role involves preparing and guiding patients through procedures operating specialized diagnostic equipment monitoring patient safety and comfort and ensuring tests are conducted according to established protocols. Successful candidates demonstrate professionalism attention to detail strong patient communication skills and interpersonal skills empathy and the ability to work independently while adhering to clinical safety and confidentiality standards in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

The Clinical Neurodiagnostic (CND) Assistant- Movement Lab:Works closely alongside the physician to prepare and conduct diagnostic testing in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role requires precise preparation of sensors and accurate electrode placement for targeted muscles with the ability to quickly identify and prepare specific muscle groups. The technician must recognize troubleshoot and correct electrode placement and signal artifacts in real time including reducing impedance and other sources of interference. Familiarity with test-specific electrode configurations equipment setup and clerical preparation is essential. Success in this role demands the ability to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy manage time effectively maintain exceptional attention to detail and communicate clearly with the physician and clinical team throughout testing.

Experience strongly preferred:

  1. Accurate prep & handling of Botulinum toxin (reconstitution dosage accuracy dilution)
  2. Strong understanding of muscle anatomy landmarks and innervation *anatomical knowledge
  3. Exposure to needles
  4. Strong math skills
  5. Anatomy


Qualifications

The minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or GED. Minimum of one year of patient care experience required or current student in the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Clinical Neurophysiology Technology Program.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Requires computer skills including Windows based applications.

  • Ability to navigate through multiple applications and platforms with ease.

  • Preferred experience includes roles such as Pharmacy tech Phlebotomy Tech or Licensed Practical Nurse.

  • Previous experience in Neurology preferred.

  • Proficiency with electronic health records is preferred.

  • Strong ability to work independently remain goal-oriented and maintain excellent organizational skills.

  • Capable of effectively managing multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality or patient care.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including proper telephone etiquette professional face-to-face interactions and effective electronic correspondence. Proven ability to communicate confidently and credibly with individuals and small groups.

  • Exhibit a friendly positive demeanor and bring energy and motivation to daily responsibilities.

  • Skilled in handling challenging situations staying composed under pressure demonstrating empathy and maintaining constructive communication in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
