Role Overview
The Camp Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and smooth operation of the Bushwise training camp. This role ensures that students staff and guests experience a well-organised safe and professional environment. The Camp Coordinator acts as the central point of contact for logistics scheduling accommodation and operational support working closely with trainers guides and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Camp Operations & Logistics
- Coordinate daily camp activities schedules and logistics to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage accommodation allocations for students staff and guests.
- Oversee housekeeping standards maintenance requests and general camp readiness.
- Liaise with maintenance teams and suppliers for repairs stock and services.
Student & Staff Coordination
- Act as a primary point of contact for students on-site addressing queries and logistical needs.
- Support trainers and guides with scheduling vehicle logistics and training logistics.
- Assist with student arrivals inductions and departures.
Administration & Systems
- Maintain accurate records of occupancy schedules equipment and inventories.
- Update internal systems and trackers related to camp operations.
- Assist with reporting on camp performance issues and operational needs.
Health Safety & Compliance
- Ensure camp operations comply with safety environmental and organisational policies.
- Conduct basic safety checks on accommodation vehicles and common areas.
- Support emergency procedures and incident reporting.
Guest & Partner Liaison
- Coordinate logistics for visiting partners assessors or external guests.
- Maintain professional communication with lodge partners and stakeholders when required.
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in hospitality lodge operations training camps or similar remote-site environments.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a remote bush environment with flexible hours.
- Basic computer literacy (email spreadsheets scheduling tools).
- Valid drivers licence.
Desirable:
- Experience in conservation safari lodges or outdoor education environments.
- Knowledge of basic camp maintenance and logistics processes.
- First Aid / safety certification.
Required Skills:
Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management (or equivalent experience). Minimum 12 years experience in a hospitality or lodge environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office reservations or PMS systems advantageous). Professional presentable and guest-centric approach. Willingness to live on-site and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
