The Physician Assistant will be selected to provide daily support for the activities of an established outpatient clinic in SCI/D center the emerging Telehealth Program expanding Home Health program and potentially to support on-going research projects for a major SCI/D treatment center. Based on interest and skillset of incumbent and service needs cross coverage for SCI/D inpatient unit may also be a part of the responsibilities. Ongoing collaboration with physicians and nursing staff.
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be October 21 2025. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.
The Physician Assistant duties include:
Providing support to SCI/D patients across the spectrum of care.
Assessment and treatment of veterans with SCI/D in the SCI/D outpatient clinic and potentially inpatients admitted to the hospital.
Collaboration with tele-health and home-care nursing team to provide high level specialized care in the outpatient setting
Working with the attending staff and interdisciplinary rehab team to provide coordinated high-quality care;
Provides admission histories and physicals admission orders aftercare plans and discharge summaries;
Communicating with patients in person and by phone to address their concerns and questions;
Instructing patients and families in self-care and treatment.
Documenting assessments diagnosis and plans of care in the clinical records
In collaboration with current physician assistants provides on-call coverage on Monday through Thursdays (holidays excluded) from home.
