SUMMARY
The Wachholz Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (WIEC) Coordinator provides leadership in the daily operations for a wide range of entrepreneurship and innovation programming and services including those for the Kalispell Small Business Development Center (SBDC). This position also serves as a supporting role for all Continuing Education programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serves as the initial contact and referring representative for all new customers engaging with the WIEC establishing a welcoming and professional climate and experience for the Center with a commitment to responsive and innovative service.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Center including staff and facility scheduling communications programming and event management and facility logistics requiring availability to work early mornings or evenings on occasion.
  • Maintains the WIEC budget and prepares scheduled reports and data; supports Center fundraising efforts.
  • Abides by all SBDC rules and regulations regarding data confidentiality and reporting.
  • Sets up and maintain systems and software tools (CRM event registration room booking communications platforms etc.) as well as meeting room equipment and technology with support from IT.
  • Actively participates in the development of new or improved services and programming - exploring new program and event offerings evaluating options and implementing.
  • Works in collaboration with relevant campus departments to coordinate campus programming and events and develop promotional communication materials and media for all WIEC and SBDC programming.
  • May supervise and direct the work of employees.
  • Promotes a culture of leadership within a collaborative team-oriented environment.
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services.
  • Collaborates with team to achieve objectives and to enhance Continuing Education programming inclusive of the WIEC and SBDC.
  • Recommends and implements standards and best practices across operations; remains current in practices trends and research related to areas of assignment
  • Attends related trainings workshops and professional development.
  • Contributes to a productive team environment. Cross-trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for other department staff as needed.
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of community members in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reports to the Continuing Education Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree and a minimum of two years of professional work experience related to project management and/or event planning; OR
  • Associates degree and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional work experience related to project management and/or event planning; OR
  • An equitable combination of six years of related higher education and relevant work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience in a startup innovation and/or educational environment
  • More than three years of progressively responsible work experience in project management event planning and/or course programming
  • Advanced technical skills with Microsoft applications Google Suite and database/CRM platforms for developing communication event schedules marketing and reports

  • Skill in taking initiative being proactive critical thinking problem analysis and resolution
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and perform administrative tasks effectively with frequent interruptions
  • Experience with budgetary process
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple areas individuals projects and priorities
  • Skill and ability to operate a variety of computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office database programs and interactive team software
  • Ability to use an electronic communication platform and social media for marketing
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the public students potential students and the College community
  • Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Ability to follow and issue directions
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
  • This is a Medium Duty job according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds continuously
