Job Summary

Reporting to the Lead Surveyor or Superintendent the Surveyor assists the existing project team with various site management and coordination tasks:
- Prepare and maintain sketches maps reports in order to describe certify and assume liability for work performed.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Record the results of surveys including the shape contour location elevation and dimensions.
- Prepare or supervise preparation of all data charts plots maps records and documents related to surveys.
- Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines elevations and other geodetic measurements.
- Coordinate findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel clients and others concerned with projects.
- Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
- Establish fixed points for use in making maps using geodetic and engineering instruments.
- Analyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation.
- Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
- Collaborate with subcontracted BCLS on structure monitoring and legal survey tasks.
- Direct subcontracted aerial and bathymetric surveys of specified geographical areas.
Requirements
- Completion of post-secondary studies or applicable training;
- 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar position;
- Good knowledge of Job Site Health and Safety rules and regulations;
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite MS Project and AutoCAD;
- Project is located in the Campbell River area;
- Bilingual (an asset) but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
