Position Summary:
The specialist teacher provides academic support to students who need additional reading support. The specialist teacher also facilitates professional development training in order to support teachers in addition to curriculum and assessment training for all teachers and instructional assistants. The specialists teacher acts as a resource and support for classroom teachers and instructional assistants.
Major Responsibilities
- Providing reading intervention
- Collaborating and supporting teachers who teach reading.
- Collaborating with and providing resources to other specialists on a regular basis.
- Planning trainings and professional development for all staff members monthly
- School engagement leader in reading initiatives
- Community outreach initiative leader
- Diagnostic and prescriptive instruction using data
