Job Summary

IT Manager / IT Officer in theDivision of Community Medicine and Public Health Practice School of Public Health (Two posts) (Ref.: 534283) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance).

Applicants should possess a Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field with at least 5 years of related working experience in Full Stack Web Development and IT project management. The role involves designing developingand coding as well as maintenance including bug-fixing and enhancing of high-performance web applications using Django as back-end and or React as front-end frameworks. Responsibilities also include the administration of cross-platform environments (Linux Windows macOS) covering system configuration user and access management security hardening and troubleshooting. Proficiency in technologies including Python JavaScript HTML5 MySQL Network Attached Storage system and Content management systems is required. Knowledge of AI-assisted coding tools will be an advantage. Applicants should demonstrate excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues. They should be analytical attentive to details and able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

The appointees will support a public health screening programme that aims to provide evidence-based information for the early detection of lung cancer in the community. They will be responsible for the development and maintenance of web applications for data collections including web forms with complex logic and file-upload capabilities. They will also be required to develop dashboards and data visualizations collaborate with multiple health centres on project implementation and troubleshoot technical issues. Additionally the appointees will provide technical support to field staff assist in IT project planning and execution and ensure the development and maintenance of a data collection platform. Their responsibilities also include improving data management and security procedures supporting data collection and server maintenance and performing other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
