Minimum Qualifications


  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and software and proficient in using office technology including but not limited to printers scanners copiers AI etc;
  • Customer service experience demonstrating a commitment to providing excellent support;
  • Experience managing data entry tasks and maintaining accurate organized records;
  • Highly organized with a strong focus on providing courteous customer service and support;

Job Specification

A legal secretary within the Public Protection Division Consumer Protection Section assists in administering registrations legal notices and consumer complaints and provides legal support to Assistant Attorneys General in pursuing enforcement actions under state and federal unfair trade practices and consumer protection laws. The legal secretary addresses inquiries from the public and assists with the Consumer Protection Sections voluntary consumer dispute process. The legal secretary works under the supervision of the Office Manager with guidance from the Consumer Protection Section Chief and the Director of the Public Protection Division to support the attorneys. The qualified candidate will possess the knowledge skills and abilities to support the Section be self-motivated have a positive cooperative and collaborative attitude and have a desire to continuously learn and energy to assist the public.

Job Duties and Other Information

The position of Legal Secretary may consist of but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Conduct intake of consumer dispute forms and handle the ongoing consumer dispute process ensuring effective resolution and maintaining clear communication throughout the process;
  • Upload organize and maintain accurate records in relevant databases to ensure proper documentation;
  • Answer incoming calls direct inquiries and provide relevant information in a professional and efficient manner;
  • Read analyze and review various documents including dispute forms letters contracts policies advertisements and invoices;
  • Actively engage with both consumers and businesses to improve communication promote solutions and facilitate compromises;
  • Prepare and mail a variety of letters and other official correspondence;
  • Identify issues that require referral to other agencies or departments for further handling or resolution;
  • Assist attorneys with various legal and other administrative projects; and
  • Prepare various legal documents and reports.
