Job Summary



Key Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the GFL Technical team assists with various duties as assigned.
  • Liaise with Sales customer service and the GFL facilities to manage incoming and outgoing waste streams
  • Referencing Safety Data Sheets Lab analytical or waste description assign corresponding Ontario waste class code and proper TDG (UN number)
  • Interpret customer chemical inventory spreadsheets and group compatible waste together to be lab packed either by the client or a GFL technician. Assign appropriate waste class code and TDG
  • If so delegated by the client assist with managing their Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) accounts.
  • Ensure the proper UN rated containers are used for all wastes.
  • Ensure all bulk wastes (liquid or solid) are transported in the appropriate truck.
  • Direct incoming waste to the appropriate GFL facility for disposal.
  • Price all incoming waste streams ensuring GFL profitability margins are satisfied
  • When necessary work with external 3rd party disposal services to price waste streams that must go outside of GFL
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a clean appearance at all times
  • Abide by the rules and requirements while on customer or GFL property.
  • Assist with additional tasks that may be assigned by management.

Knowledge Skills and Key Competencies:

  • Environmental or Chemical Engineering Technician or Technologist or related Diploma
  • Previous lab sales and industry experience is an asset
  • Competent computer skills (Google Drive/Docs MS Windows and Office)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be motivated able to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be safety conscious and detail oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of TDG Reg. 347 and Ontario Health and Safety Act an asset.
