Role: Desktop Support Analyst
Location: Ottawa ON 100% On-site
Status: Contract Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Schedule: Flexible between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Our client is currently seeking a qualified Desktop Support Analyst to join their team onsite in Ottawa ON. Under the direction of the Technical Authority you will be part of a team of five analysts responsible for providing daily operational support and maintaining the IT infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that systems remain secure and up-to-date in support of the Government of Canadas strategic initiatives.
Security and eligibility requirements (Mandatory)
The candidate MUST meet ALL of the following criteria to be considered:
- Security Clearance: Hold or be eligible for a Level III (Top Secret) security clearance. The process requires full transparency regarding your personal and financial history as well as foreign travel.
- Citizenship and Residency: Due to access to highly sensitive information Canadian citizenship is mandatory. Furthermore you must have resided in Canada continuously for the past ten (10) years.
- Polygraph Test: You must successfully undergo and pass a polygraph examination.
- Confidentiality: You will be permanently bound by the Security of Information Act (SOIA) which implies a strict obligation of professional secrecy even after the end of your contract or employment.
- Work Environment (Secure Zone): Work is performed in a secure environment where the use of personal electronic devices (cell phones laptops tablets etc.) is strictly prohibited on-site.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support (Tier 1 & 2): Resolve incidents and provide direct on-site assistance to users.
- Hardware Management: Configure image deploy and troubleshoot PCs laptops tablets monitors KVM switches network printers and peripherals.
- Physical Infrastructure: Install and terminate copper and fiber optic cabling between workstations and patch panels.
- Asset Management: Maintain rigorous inventory and update configuration databases. Prepare equipment for shipping or disposal according to government standards.
- IT Lifecycle: Participate in workstation assembly and ensure full lifecycle management of equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree or Diploma in Computer Science OR a minimum of 5 years of progressive IT experience.
- Technical Support (5 years): Proven experience in Tier 1 and 2 support including the installation and configuration of PCs laptops tablets monitors KVM switches and network printers.
- Systems Management (5 years): Proficiency in software loading image deployment (imaging) and troubleshooting complex hardware and software configurations.
- Physical Infrastructure (2 years): Hands-on experience with copper and fiber optic cabling including termination (wall plates patch panels switch ports) and connectivity testing and troubleshooting.
- Customer Service: Excellent ability to manage service calls and interact with users within a highly regulated environment.
