Position: Conservation and Outreach Coordinator (1) Regular Full Time Exempt
Location: Maalaea Maui
Pay Range: $55000 to $60000 annually based on skills and experience

Role Overview:
The Conservation and Outreach Coordinator supports the implementation coordination and day-to-day operations of Pacific Whale Foundations community-based conservation and outreach programs. Reporting to the Conservation and Outreach Manager this role is highly execution-oriented and focuses on logistics scheduling communications data processing and on-the-ground program delivery.
This position plays a key role in translating program plans into action by coordinating field activities supporting community engagement events processing and managing program data and contributing to external-facing communications. The Coordinator regularly engages with the public including keiki and families and must be comfortable with public speaking educational interactions and representing PWF in community settings. This role requires scuba certification and participation in in-water conservation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate logistics for conservation and outreach programs including fieldwork cleanups restoration projects school visits and community events by supporting scheduling staffing transportation equipment preparation supply tracking and compliance documentation.
- Support outreach activities youth engagement volunteer programs and community events by engaging keiki students volunteers and community members through presentations and hands-on education events.
- Coordinate with Marketing and Development to ensure accurate timely messaging regarding program related content for blogs social media newsletters and outreach materials.
- Collect enter manage and maintain program data from field and outreach activities by compiling and summaries and reports of collected data.
- Participate in field and in-water conversation activities including snorkeling and scuba projects.
- Support program goals in collaboration with the Conservation and Outreach Manager and across department teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in environmental science Marine Science Conservation Education Communications or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 13 years of experience in conservation outreach education nonprofit programs or field-based environmental work.
- Open Water Scuba certification (required); Advanced Open Water preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification (required; Lifeguard certification preferred or ability to obtain).
- Experience working with children youth or the general public in educational or outreach settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including comfort with public speaking and facilitation.
- Experience with logistics coordination and managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience with data collection data entry and basic reporting; comfort using spreadsheets and databases.
- Ability to work outdoors and in marine environments including lifting equipment and working in variable weather conditions.
- Cultural awareness and respect for Hawaiian values communities and stewardship practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends based on program needs.
