Savan is seeking a Task Lead / Project Manager to support a Department of Transportation (DoT) program by managing task order execution and leading project teams delivering professional and technical services. The Task Lead serves as the primary point of contact for federal client stakeholders and is responsible for overseeing project delivery managing staff and ensuring successful performance across scope schedule cost and quality. This role includes direct people management responsibilities and requires regular engagement with government task leads CORs and program leadership.Key Responsibilities- Manage task order execution from initiation through closeout
- Develop and maintain project plans schedules and deliverables
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements performance standards and reporting obligations
- Monitor risks issues and dependencies and implement mitigation strategies
- Support task order transitions ramp-up activities and closeout efforts
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for government task leads and CORs
- Lead regular status meetings briefings and program reviews
- Provide accurate timely reporting on project status risks and performance
- Escalate issues appropriately to protect program outcomes and client relationships
- Provide direct people management for assigned staff including goal setting performance management coaching and professional development
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams including subcontractors
- Support staffing plans onboarding and knowledge transfer activities
- Foster a collaborative high-performing team environment aligned with program objectives
- Manage task-level budgets labor tracking and burn rates
- Support forecasting staffing alignment and resource planning
- Ensure execution aligns with approved pricing labor categories and funding constraints
- Ensure quality standards are met across all deliverables
- Promote consistent program management processes and governance
- Support continuous improvement and incorporation of lessons learned
Qualifications & Requirements- Bachelors degree in business IT or a related field
- 6 years of project or task management experience
- Active PMP certification
- Experience managing federal contracts (FFP and/or T&M)
- Experience leading teams and managing staff
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred- Experience supporting federal civilian agencies including DoT
- Experience leading Agile or hybrid delivery teams
- Familiarity with federal acquisition and reporting requirements
- Agile or Scrum certification
Work Location & Schedule- Hybrid schedule
- On-site presence at Savan Headquarters (Vienna VA) client site in Washington DC and remote work as appropriate.
