Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise to the NIAID Office of Research Training and Special Programs (ORTSP) Director and on occasions DEA and NIAID leadership regarding the funding of NIAID research training programs.
- Utilize statistical methods and data mining tools to assist the ORTSP Director and the research training team members in grant portfolio analysis funding projections and tracking of funding decisions for training and scientific workforce programs uncover trends patterns and anomalies within the data in order to provide accurate results to ORTSP and the DEA Director and NIAID leadership.
- Perform in-depth analysis of extramural research training grants within NIAID mission areas and relevant outcomes.
- Analyze and curate data from a variety of NIH and NIAID systems including IMPAC II RePORTER WOMBAT QVR NPARS etc. Analyze and evaluate on a quantitative or qualitative basis the effectiveness of research training programs in meeting established goals and objectives of the Agency priorities; and analyze and integrate programmatic financial and technical information.
- Collaborate with NIAID OSPIDA in portfolio evaluation and data analysis historical perspective and NIAID investment for research training programs compared to other ICs.
- Collaborate with OSPIDA in the development of an ORTSP Dashboard.
- Maintain ORTSP Research Training SharePoint and web contents; ensure web pages are updated with accurate information pertaining to the NIAID research training program.
- Interact with other ICs to discuss scientific programs and activities as needed.
- Conduct in-depth analysis and data mining to provide critical information in response to Congressional/Agency/Leadership inquiries regarding NIAID ORTSP training portfolio.
- Develop comprehensive reports that clearly articulate findings supported by visualizations and data models and as needed tailor reports to address specific inquiries from Congress and Agency stakeholders ORTSP staff and Leadership ensuring clarity and relevance.
- Conduct comparative analyses to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of NIAID funded training and workforce grants in achieving their objectives aligned with agency priorities.
- Collaborate with other ORTSP staff to integrate work activities and assist in the evaluation of new or enhanced ORTSP programs and initiatives.
- Assist in the evaluation of training future biomedical scientists accomplishments track trainees and evaluate success of research training grants/programs funded by the NIAID.
- Work closely with the NIAID research training program coordinators and ORTSP scientific program staff to identify and inform applicants and research institutions about NIAID research activities and funding opportunities.
- Assist research training applicants answering applicants calls/emails Program Officers GM specialists. Provide assistance with research training inquiries and manage the NIAID AI TRAINING HELPDESK email box to respond to applicants or grantees inquiries as needed.
- Work with NIAID research training team to conduct outreach opportunities. Assist/organize programs that will attract and retain interest in the research training grant program.
- Provide technical and programming guidance and direction in research training areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree required.
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of related experience.
