Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for all clerical operations within the County Assessment Office subject to the supervision of the Supervisor of Assessments.

POSITION DUTIES

interacts with the general public bath in persan and by phone to respondto

technical issues related to the assessment process property valuesand/or general office procedures.

Delegates duties to subordinate employees and monitors workflow to insurethe timely and accurate completion of office assignments.

Trains and instructs subordinate staff on the job duties and officeprocedures to follow to insure compliance with departmental procedures andstate regulations.

Evaluates subordinate employees to assess work quality by regularlymonitoring work performance.

Assists the Supervisor of Assessments in the development andimplementation of clerical office policy and procedures to improve clericaloffice operations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high schoolor possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of clerical or technical experience inprocessing assessments records and forms.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience performinggeneral clerical duties on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of therequired education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience as a non-commissioned officer in financial administration andprogram classification or financial administration and program specialty codesin theaccounting and budget field of work on a year-for-year basis forthe required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualifications. Applicants are encouraged to provide clear and specific information on their application regarding their qualifications:

Knowledge of policies and practices commonly used in a local assessments office.

Clerical or technical experience in processing property assessment records and forms.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and Google platforms.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to work in Dorchester County.
