This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and innovative data and reporting professional to lead the development of high-quality analytics dashboards and reporting solutions that support health safety and wellbeing outcomes across NSW public education.

As the Leader Data and Reporting you will provide advanced analytical insight oversee enterprise reporting systems and drive data integrity and governance initiatives. Your work will directly inform strategic planning policy development and operational decision-making across the Health Safety and Staff Wellbeing (HSSW) Directorate.

You will join a collaborative and purpose-driven team within the Strategy Governance and Compliance (SGC) unit contributing to digital transformation system enhancement projects and the uplift of data capability across the directorate.

About the role

The Leader Data and Reporting is responsible for designing developing and delivering complex reporting dashboards and data solutions using platforms such as Power BI Salesforce and Microsoft Office this role you will lead a small team of data and reporting analysts analyse complex data from multiple sources to identify data process and business improvement opportunities; providing new information and insights to the business to inform planning continuous improvement and performance. Through your ability to extract new information and insights you will help shape planning drive continuous improvement and strengthen performance across the department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop reports forecasts and deliver recommendations to inform and support planning and decision-making
  • Contribute to projects and service delivery through the provision of analysis recommendations and reports to meet the strategic needs of the business.
  • Shares accountability for the quality and accuracy of outputs analyses briefings and other forms of advice in final form though the line manager may review prior to release / implementation.
  • Devise how to connect disparate data sets together and understanding existing connections
  • Identify interpret and analyse complex data using linking and statistical techniques to answer multifaceted business problems including the identification of trends and/or patterns in complex datasets and to create inference or insights
  • Lead the development and implementation of templates databases data collection systems data analytics and other strategies and solutions to optimise statistical efficiency and quality using best practice methodologies and industry recognised standards and processes
  • Strong stakeholder management experience to drive insights and reporting to drive improvements
  • Analyse and define new process improvement opportunities to support continuous improvement and business outcomes

About you

You are an experienced insight reporting and analytics professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys solving problems through data. You are skilled at turning analysis into action and translating technical information into clear meaningful insights.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of dedicated and motivated individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced reporting insights and analytics and evidencebased recommendations that support planning and informed decisionmaking.
  • Expertise in Power BI Power Query Excel and other data management tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability with the confidence to influence collaborate and drive insights that support business improvement.
  • Communicating complex analytical insights in clear meaningful ways tailored to diverse stakeholder groups with varying levels of data literacy.
  • High attention to detail with organisational and time management skills.
  • A commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
