JOB TITLE:Parent Assistance Clerk

REPORTS TO:Executive Director of Family and Community Engagement

WAGE/HOUR STATUS:Non-Exempt

PAY GRADE:Para 4

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Parent Assistance Clerk will increase communication between the district and the home in order to promote engagement of families from diverse and multiple backgrounds. The Parent Assistance Clerk exists to assist parents caregivers and family members in navigating the educational process. The clerk will answer a dedicated parent assistance phone line and guide parents through established processes such as new student registration returning student annual update technology requests etc. The Parent Assistance Clerk will be knowledgeable of district procedures so that he or she can provide top quality support to our families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Graduate/GED from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of customer service experience in education

Preferred:

  • 60 College Hours from an accredited college or university
  • Fluent in Spanish

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills in word processing spreadsheet and data entry
  • Advanced organizational skills in planning goal setting and prioritizing
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Answer incoming calls on a dedicated parent assistance phone line
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Assist parents caregivers and family members with various campus and district procedures
  • Provide district and community resources to parent callers and visitors as needed
  • Compile and maintain an accurate database of phone calls and visits
  • Generate and prepare reports regarding the nature of high frequency calls and visits
  • Participate in staff workshops and trainings to stay up to date on district procedures and events
  • Perform all other duties as assigned if allowed under the federal funding guidelines

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: Ability to work in a fast-paced high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions and the ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Overtime is required as necessary.
