Jefferson County Open Space is hiring a Trail Stewardship Team Supervisor to oversee and direct the day-to-day operations of Jefferson County Open Spaces youth corps program the Trail Stewardship Team. About the Trail Stewardship Team:

The Trails Stewardship Team (TST) of Jeffco Open Space is a fun program that employs youth for trail maintenance and natural resource restoration of parks. TST promotes a positive work and stewardship ethic among team members while helping to maintain and improve natural surface trails mitigate noxious weeds and restore natural areas. TST will employ 80 youth this summer placed into crews of 10 members supervised by an adult Crew Leader. Join over 3000 TST alumni for a program that has been happening since 1975!


The Trail Stewardship Team Supervisor (Temporary) will perform administrative and supervisory duties in directing the day-to-day activities of Trail Stewardship Team Crew Leaders and Crew Members performing trail maintenance and construction for the Open Space Division.

SCHEDULE:

The work week schedule will be Monday through Thursday. The start date for this position will be mid-Marchand end on July 30th 2026. Working Dates are listed below:

COMPENSATION:

Please note the anticipated hiring range for this role is: $23.00 - $25.00 USD hourly.

Compensation will be determined based on education experience and skills.

BENEFITS:

Please note that this is a temporary non-benefited position. There is no holiday pay. Employees are able to earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked up to 48 hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Direct the daily work of the Trail Stewardship Team to accomplish park and open space projects in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Train and supervise up to 10 Crew Leaders to complete trail and natural resources projects and manage youth in an outdoor setting.
  • Ensure that safety policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to in order to achieve compliance with established standards.
  • Walk up to 10 miles a day in extreme weather carrying tools and personal equipment.
  • Facilitate crew meetings at the end of each day.
  • Direct Crew Leader reporting requirements and manage payroll attendance and project completion data.
  • Use conflict resolution skills to mitigate any conflict among employees.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in youth supervision and/or trail maintenance/construction.
  • Excellent group management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including trucks 14-passenger vans and basic trail tools.
  • Requires ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently.
