Job Description:
Our client a major hospital system is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead its Emergency Department. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe high-quality age-appropriate patient care during all hours of unit operation while fostering a culture of teamwork accountability and clinical excellence.
The Nurse Manager serves as a leader mentor and clinical resource to the care team supporting optimal patient outcomes staff engagement and operational effectiveness. This position plays a critical role in promoting a supportive just learning environment and advancing patient safety and experience initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the delivery of high-quality emergency and trauma care ensuring compliance with clinical standards and National Patient Safety Goals
- Serve as a role model and clinical resource for patients families and the interdisciplinary care team
- Communicate and collaborate effectively to foster an inclusive team-oriented environment
- Oversee hiring onboarding performance management coaching and development of nursing staff
- Ensure staff competencies certifications and regulatory requirements are met
- Direct assign review and evaluate work; manage corrective action processes as needed
- Monitor and manage departmental operating expenses including productivity overtime and premium pay in alignment with budgetary targets
- Champion the patient experience relationship-centered care and evidence-based practice
- Ensure payroll accuracy and staffing effectiveness to meet operational needs
- Act as a responsible steward of organizational resources
Qualifications
- BSN from a CCNE-accredited School of Nursing (required); MSN MS MA MHA or MBA preferred
- 57 years of nursing experience with at least 5 years of progressive Emergency Department experience and demonstrated leadership responsibilities
- Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) License
- BLS ACLS and PALS certifications (AHA); additional certifications per unit guidelines
- National specialty certification preferred within one year of hire
