Your role and responsibilities

In the role of Project Support Officer you will actively support the Programme and Project Managers in the successful management and implementation of projects across the service. Your duties will include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating projects to ensure they are delivered effectively managed appropriately and supported with the necessary learning resources for service stakeholders.
  • Providing programme and project management support to colleagues leading on Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) programmes and organisational priorities.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure successful delivery of project outputs and outcomes.
  • Assisting the Programme Manager and Project Managers by monitoring progress and compiling PMO-related data updates and reports.

You will need

  • Enthusiasm focus and motivation to thrive in a challenging and rewarding role.
  • A solid understanding of programme and project management methodologies.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent interpersonal abilities with confidence communicating at all levels.
  • Proficient IT skills including Word Excel PowerPoint and project management software.
  • A professional approach demonstrating integrity and actively promoting Suffolk County Councils We Aspire values.
  • Flexibility and resilience remaining calm under pressure and able to tackle complex organisational challenges while delivering solutions at pace.

The team

The Project Management Office play a pivotal role in SFRS and are key in understanding the resource requirements and priorities of the Service ensuring that the many projects either planned or in progress can be delivered effectively and efficiently. The PMO also provide the Service with assurance that project benefits have been realised and lead on lessons learned activities to ensure continuous improvement.

We are a small friendly team who work flexibly to ensure that all members of the team can develop their skills across all areas whilst ensuring our key objectives are being met.
