About the Role
As Attendance Officer you will monitor manage and improve student attendance while supporting staff and families to ensure all pupils can fully access their education. You will work closely with pastoral leaders safeguarding teams and teaching staff to address attendance issues proactively.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring daily attendance and reporting patterns to senior staff
Maintaining accurate attendance records and updating the schools management information system
Contacting parents and guardians to follow up on absences and lateness
Supporting interventions for students with poor attendance or punctuality
Working collaboratively with pastoral teams safeguarding leads and teaching staff to address attendance concerns
Generating attendance reports for senior leadership governors and external agencies as required
Contributing to school initiatives that promote positive attendance and engagement
Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance and safeguarding regulations
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working in an administrative or pastoral role preferably in an educational setting
Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with parents staff and external agencies
Be confident using school management systems and IT tools for data management
Be proactive approachable and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Understand safeguarding requirements and confidentiality protocols
