Clearwater Seafoods is one of North Americas largest vertically integrated seafood companies and the largest holder of shellfish licenses and quotas in Canada. Clearwater has a long tradition of partnering with First Nations. As part of the Offshore Clam Partnership the 14 Mikmaq communities and Clearwater have begun to lead the development of a new model of fishing industry/First Nations collaboration that will create valuable full time employment opportunities for members of participating Mikmaq 2021 Clearwater Seafoods announced the sale of Clearwater to a partnership between FNC Holdings Limited Partnership representing a coalition of Mikmaq First Nations and Premium Brands Holdings Corporation. The Mikmaq First Nations Coalition and Premium Brands each acquire 50% ownership in Atlantic Canadas largest fishing company.
The Indigenous Employment Ambassador will work with First Nations communities in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland to develop and implement ways to attract Mikmaw people to work with Clearwater. The Indigenous Employment Ambassador will use their relationships within the communities to promote job opportunities within Clearwater. They will work closely with the IEOs to promote job opportunities as well as work with potential candidates on their application and support them as they join the company. The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training and support as they join Clearwater.
Job Duties:
- Participate in community meetings including council meetings meetings with IEOs and community information sessions as well as career fairs and local school events.
- Help guide the HR team in reviewing job posting and required qualifications for open and upcoming positions.
- Work with Indigenous applicants on developing resumes cover letters and interview preparation techniques.
- Support the HR team in the review of applicant information interviewing applicants and the selection of candidates.
- Work with the HR team on our orientation program for Indigenous employees.
- Assess existing barriers that prevent community members from accessing employment opportunities and work with HR and the business to remove those barriers.

- Ability to work both independently & as member of a team.
- Great organizational & time management skills.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and history.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word Outlook PowerPoint and Excel.
